MRCP UK is an internationally recognised Post Graduate Level Qualification in General Medicine. MRCP(Member Of The Royal College Of Physicians ) is awarded to students on successfully passing the examinations conducted by the Royal College Of Physicians UK.



  • It is recognised by the MCI.
  • Unlike other PG medical courses in India which require NEET PG and that of UK which require PLAB and IELTS, MRCP does not require any of those.
  • If you have a MBBS Degree with 1 year of Internship you can apply for MRCP.
  • On completion of the course doctors can work in clinical positions and academic positions in India and abroad.

MRCP has three parts. On successful completion of the three part examination, students receive the certificate and start specialist internal medicine training in the UK. The three parts are as follows-

  • MRCP (UK) Part 1
  • MRCP (UK) Part 2 Written
  • MRCP (UK) Part 2 Clinical (Practical Assessment of Clinical Examination Skills)



Eligibility- Completion of MBBS and 12 months of Internship


Pattern of MRCP   


 Part 1


It is an entry level exam for MBBS pass out doctors which takes place thrice a year      ·      It is a one day examination ·      Two three-hour papers ·      200 MCQ (best of 5) ·      Questions do not include images ·      Have to sit in an examination hall   £594 for international students.       


Part 2


It is a written examination and can be taken by the physicians in training who have already cleared the part 1 exam. This exam takes place thrice a year      ·      Three papers taken over two days, each paper lasts 3 hours ·      270 MCQ (best of 5) ·      Questions include images ·      Have to sit in an examination hall   £594 for international students       


Part 3- PACES 


 This is the final part of the assessment where candidates are assessed on their ability to carry out essential clinical skills. Exam centres can be both UK and INDIA (Bengaluru, Kochi, Kolkata, Chennai, New Delhi)      ·      Half day exam takes place in a clinical setting (Hospitals/clinical skills centre) ·      7 core skills are assessed ·      5 stations ·      8 patient encounters ·      2 independent examiners at each station ·      Each candidate is assesses independently by a total of 10 examiners £1202 (if exam is taken in INDIA)    £657 (in UK centres)
